The following is an exchange from Tarantino's August 17, 2009 interview with Howard Stern and Robin Quivers:
HS: Do you thank God? Are you a religious man?
QT: Not really.
HS: Do you thank some to nature of...because, uh, who gets that thought?
QT: It's funny you say that because I'm not a religious man. At the same time, if I am religious, it's about my writing ability.
HS: YES!
QT: I do feel that there is....I consider it a God-given gift, even though I don't really believe in God. I'm gonna go with that.
HS: I'm in the same confusing universe that you are.
QT: I believe in past lives, though. Do you believe in past lives?
HS: I'm not going to get that crazy.
RQ: Now, there'd have to be something out there if there were past lives.
HS: See, I don't believe in past lives, and then I'll go, "that guy's an old soul." It doesn't make any sense!
QT: Yeah, it's contradiction on contradiction. You don't know what's training and what's society. And what is...
HS: And then I'll get a great idea and I'll go, "Thank God." [2]
