Catherine Deveny (born 1968) is a comedy writer, stand-comedian, and a regular left-wing columnist in The Age newspaper since 2001. She has performed on all Australian TV networks, in Australian comedy venues and on radio.
'Deveny wrote gags for Rusty Crowe at the 2005 AFI Awards it was her jokes that made him look good and an appreciative Rusty sent her a posh bottle of red from Chateauneuf-du-Pape in southern France with a thank-you note on the Crowe letterhead. Deveny described the drop as a "cheeky, rough red", like cheeky and rough Rusty, telling Diary she downed it on Good Friday: "To celebrate me becoming an atheist."' - source
