'Manda

‘Manda is the artist and co-creator of FURCADIA[1], a multiplayer online game for the PC featuring anthropomorphic animals. She is also the co-designer of TWERPS (The World's Easiest Role-Playing System) from Gamescience, and co-designer of Quicksilver[2], a fantasy rpg published electronically by UNIgames[3].

Her career began as an artist and writer on Ultima VI. She has also worked for Apogee (now known as 3D Realms) and Optigon (now known as TEN, Total Entertainment Network). She is known to Ultima fans as "Penumbra" and to Furcadia fans as "Talzhemir".

'Manda posts essays online[4], wherein she makes it clear that she is an atheist. For example:

Prayer is a great way to pretend you are doing something about a problem, when you're not. Sometimes that problem is nonsense, like this trumped-up crisis that I don't bow down to a god so I'm going to be tortured forever after I die. Conversely, if the problem is real, then we've got an unhealthy situation in which you can avoid taking actual measures to correct it or at least discuss it with other human beings. Whether in public or in private, prayer is an extremely bad idea.
